Your computer has been acting haywire lately, especially after some recent downloads. Surfing on the Internet is absolutely fine, but it really isn’t a good idea to download any software that you have never used before. If the website looks fishy and doesn’t sound legit, don’t download. However, if you really need to, then scan the program or app first. This will cut down your chances of getting a nasty virus or spyware on your computer.
Also, If you are someone who enjoys gaming online, or has many programs – you may need to cut back a bit. Let’s say for example, you have about five different gaming programs installed. As you know, this takes up tons of space so you need to figure out which ones you can do without.
Now, there are many different things you can do to improve your computer’s performance, but it is up to you to take action. Instead of doing two different tasks to help your computer get up to speed, you should work on several different tasks. This way, you’ll have more space on the computer, and it will work three times faster than before.
With the optimum PC performance, you’ll be able to open your gaming programs in no time and start having fun online! Here is a list to help you get started.
Uninstall any unused programs or applications
Have you ever noticed that when you have a lot of programs on your PC, it seems to run slower? This is because you have yourself a case of “clutter” and need to clean up anything you don’t need. All these programs that you accumulate will cause connection issues between your operating system and the program itself. If you really need to keep an application you have, we suggest putting it on a disk or a flash drive. Usually, flash drives are more convenient because they are highly portable, being so small and hold more space.
Visual Effects – Customization
Windows has many different visual effects, such as Star screensavers or even falling ones. While these screensavers and wallpapers look cool, they might not be so great for your system. Many screensavers take up tons of space and can really slow down the computer. Try not to use a screensaver and if you need a wallpaper, use the one that came installed with your PC. This will boost your performance a lot.
Never have programs automatically start
Did you know that if you assign some programs to automatically start, you are already hurting the speed of your computer. For example, these programs use RAM or system resources on your PC. If you can, try to assign each program to manually start, meaning you’ll need to find then click on the software in order for it to boot up.
Defragment on the Hard Drive
If you are someone who has hundreds of programs and files on the computer, there is a good chance that Windows has already placed these files or at least certain parts of a file to different places on the hard drive. Under Start and Programs, you may see an option to do something called “Defrag”. This might take you anywhere from 20 minutes to a few hours, depending on your connection and the speed of your computer. Make sure it is completed and before you even do the defragment, backup your computer.
Reinstall your Operating System
Last but not least, reinstall your operating system. Only do this if your computer still has not become responsive. When reinstalling the operating system, you will have to backup everything beforehand. This is why it is very important to transfer all of your programs to another device. Double check to make sure you can install the programs from this device, otherwise you may lose your work. The best thing about doing a reinstall is that your computer will be like brand new again. However, this process takes a lot of planning.
